My journey to becoming a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner began years ago while trying to find answers to my own health struggles...

My childhood was pretty ordinary, I was an athlete so that meant busy nights and weekends through most of the year and never really giving much thought to food choices. On many occasions, dinner would consist of concession stand snacks, soft pretzels (my fav) or McDonald's dollar menu cheeseburgers. My mom did her best at home, making dinner from scratch and keeping everyone's sweet tooth satisfied with frozen treats for dessert. This was normal, and it was easy and no one expected it would ever become ancient history.

In high school, everything changed. I matured later than most girls, but once puberty hit, my life was engulfed by long lasting, painful menstrual cycles and fluctuating weight. I began to get sick often, never really understanding what was wrong. Most food began to disagree with me and I started identifying with the term "lactose intolerant". I was convinced something had to be wrong with me, so I turned to professionals. On multiple occasions, my doctor told me I “looked perfectly healthy” and saw no reason to run any lab work that would suggest otherwise. So I carried on with life, doing my best to stay positive.

My junior year is when my anxiety and body image disorder went into full swing. I never paid much attention to my body before and now it consumed my every thought. I stopped playing sports, I began to feel most comfortable blending into the background and nearly everything I ate sent me running to the bathroom. I began experimenting with dieting and starvation techniques in hopes to look and feel good again. This carried on through the rest of my high school experience and well into adulthood. It was a lonely season of life, I was holding on to this idea of who I thought I should be and what I should look like and losing myself, friendships and love for life in the process.

I was exhausted, depressed, feeling hopeless and fearful of what my future was going to look like.

My life continued to yo-yo, until I crossed paths with a chiropractor who helped connect all the dots for me. His clinical approach to health care focused on addressing the root cause of inflammation in the body and taught me that when we remove inflammatory triggers, the body will then heal and begin to function properly again. After everything I had been through, this was the first thing I had heard that made any sense.

I finally had hope & I began to submerge myself in nutrition and wellness culture.

Today, I am happy to say that I have found a balance of things that work wonderfully for my unique body. This didn't happen overnight, but I saw small, steady changes over time that kept me moving forward. It has taken years of healing and dedication to studying diet, exercise, blood sugar regulation, digestive health and overall biology of the human body.

I have found that there is no cookie cutter approach, every individual is unique and requires a different approach to find balance.

As a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, I want to use my experiences and knowledge to help you find balance faster than I did. Life is short and we only get one shot at it, please, don’t waste any more time feeling sick, exhausted and left wondering why. Together, we can discover how to find balance in your life and bring excitement back to your daily routine. Thank you for being here, and I look forward to hearing your story!
